    Matthew M. Cobb



    Matthew Cobb, Attorney at Law, is a member of the firm’s labor and employment law and civil litigation practice groups. His work is primarily focused on employment law litigation in federal and state courts, covering a wide range of issues including wage and hour, discrimination, whistleblower retaliation, breach of contract, and harassment. Matt also represents clients in proceedings before the Maine Human Rights Commission, the Maine Unemployment Insurance Commission, the Maine Department of Labor, and the U.S. Department of Labor.

    In addition to his litigation work, Matt advises employers on a variety of employment law compliance matters, including personnel policies, wage and hour issues, employment contracts and severance agreements, workplace disability and accommodations, HIPAA compliance, and independent contractor issues. He has given numerous presentations to human resources professionals on labor and employment law topics and has authored several articles on employment law matters.

    Matthew M. Cobb is a graduate of the University of Maine, where he received his bachelor of arts, cum laude, in history with a minor in political science. He earned his law degree magna cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Maine Law Review and was the recipient of the Honorable Daniel E. Wathen Legal Writing Award and the Faculty Significant Achievement Award. During law school, he also served as a legal writing teaching instructor, interned at the Department of Justice, interned at the Appellate Division of the United States Attorney’s Office, and worked as a summer associate at Rudman Winchell. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Andrew M. Mead of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.

    Matt currently lives in Bangor but was born and raised in coastal Washington County, near Machias, Maine. He enjoys spending most of his free time with his family. Matt also enjoys soccer, exploring Maine’s great outdoors, and following the UMaine Black Bears Ice Hockey team.
