Starboard Leadership Consulting Announces New Hire

By Rudman Winchell Attorney

Starboard Leadership Consulting in Bangor, Maine, an affiliate of Rudman Winchell,  is happy to announce the addition of Stephanie Cotsirilos to the company. Stephanie brings more than 30 years’ combined experience in the performing arts, law, and management consulting to her position as a Senior Consultant.

Stephanie has guided organizations through executive transitions, supported planning processes, and helped non-profit boards strengthen their governance models. She has also used her analytic skills and her ability to absorb and synthesize new information to develop research-based documents for her clients. The breadth of her experience and training allows her to take on specialized tasks or to provide comprehensive consultation and support to her non-profit, municipal, and business clients.

Now in its 7th year, Starboard Leadership Consulting has continued to see growing demand throughout Maine for its management consulting services. Business owners, nonprofit organizations and state and local government have turned to Starboard for strategic planning, board governance support, and assistance with leadership transitions, evaluation and project facilitation. The demand for strategic planning counsel and support, in particular, has grown dramatically.

“The downturn in the economy caused businesses and organizations to reevaluate their plans, or finally get serious about putting plans in place,” said Jeff Wahlstrom, Starboard’s president. “Those organizations who have engaged in strategic planning have weathered this economy better than most and are ready for what comes next.”

With the addition of Stephanie Cotsirilos, Starboard will further bolster its capabilities in board governance and expand its reach to be able to serve more clients in southern Maine.

“Stephanie’s depth of experience in the arts and in working with woman-led organizations brings tremendous value to our work,” explained Wahlstrom, “and her work in southern Maine expands our geographic footprint.”

Examples of her work also include facilitation of the Aroostook Medical Center’s strategic planning retreat, analyses for a City of Bangor environmental feasibility study, and training and guidance for the board of a large, human service non-profit as it navigated its way through an executive transition. Her clients also include those devoted to the arts and to evidence-based youth substance abuse prevention.

Stephanie’s civic engagement led her to chair the board of Mabel Wadsworth Women’s Health Center (“Wonder Woman” Award 2005) and to become a board officer for United Way of Eastern Maine (Board Chair’s Award, 2010) and advisory board member of the Collins (formerly Maine) Center for the Arts. She served on a judicial review panel for a U.S. District Court vacancy and drafted elections reform legislation. She currently volunteers for the University of Maine as a member of the President’s Board of Visitors and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council. She is a member of the International Women’s Forum.

A graduate of Yale Law School, Yale Music School, and Brown University cum laude in Comparative Literature, Stephanie and her son live in Orono and Portland, Maine.
