John K. Hamer
John is a graduate of Vermont Law School and McGill University. In addition to his Juris Doctor, he holds a Master of Studies in Environmental Law.
John practices primarily in the areas of municipal and administrative law, labor, and employment law, workers’ compensation, and appeals. Other areas of practice include abatement appeals, ordinance drafting, land use law, due process, and constitutional issues. He has appeared before agencies ranging from local planning boards all the way to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. Among other things, John has prosecuted 80K land use actions, defended municipal decisions in Rule 80B appeals, litigated labor arbitrations and prohibited practice complaints before the Maine Labor Relations Board, assisted in disciplinary and grievance proceedings, negotiated labor contracts, practiced before the Maine Human Rights Commission and defended the constitutionality of municipal ordinances before the Maine Supreme Court.
John serves on the Board of Directors for both the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter, and the Midcoast Actors Studio, and is a past president of the Downtown Bangor Partnership.
