Mark Laverdiere, Esq., practices within the Corporate and Business Practices group/ Mark is a talented transitional and finance attorney with years of experience representing many banks and businesses in the Bangor community. He is known for bringing practical guidance and creative solutions to the most complex business issues. Mark understands the challenges involved in forming, operating, and selling or winding down a successful business, and he has conducted numerous multi-million dollar transactions for his clients over the years. From start-ups, to mergers and acquisitions, to sales and succession planning, Mark is ready to help you with your legal needs. In recent years, Mark has also become well known for representing numerous Maine veterinarians with the sales of their practices. Mark also works extensively with real estate matters and maintains an active civil litigation practice for real estate and corporate matters.
Mark has also worked as a judicial law clerk for the Maine Superior Court on hundreds of complex cases including real estate and business disputes, medical malpractice claims, employment discrimination and whistleblower cases, and murder/manslaughter trials.
Mark is a former U.S. Army Sergeant who served from 2002 to 2006. During his time in the service, Mark was deployed to Tikrit, Iraq, with the First Infantry Division, where he operated as a combat commander and squad leader for over 13 months. He was named his battalion’s 2004 Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year while in Iraq and earned multiple medals and honors during his time in the service.
After completing undergraduate degrees, Mark attended the University of Maine School of Law in Portland, Maine, where he graduated with high honors and was awarded the Pro Bono Publico Award. While in law school, he represented clients on behalf of the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, as well as the Financial Crimes Division of the Maine Attorney General’s Office as a student extern. Mark has been selected as one of New England’s Rising Stars in Corporate Law by the peer-reviewed New England Superlawyers from 2015-2019. Mark serves as Treasurer for the Penobscot County Bar Association and is a member of the Orono-Old Town YMCA Board of Directors.
