JOY A. TRUEWORTHY focuses her practice at Rudman Winchell on estate planning, elder law, long-term care planning, and probate administration matters; and also serves as a guardian ad litem for children in child protection cases. She is a member of the Maine State Bar Association, the Penobscot County Bar Association, and the John Waldo Ballou Inn of Court. Ms. Trueworthy serves as the secretary for Partners for Peace (formerly the Spruce Run-Womancare Alliance). She received certificates of Commendation in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 for her pro bono service to low-income Mainers through the Maine Supreme Judicial Court’s Katahdin Counsel Recognition Program. Ms. Trueworthy was named Guardian ad Litem of the Year by Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine in 2016 and was selected as a 2018 Rising Star in elder law by Super Lawyers for New England. She graduated from Smith College, being named to the dean’s list during each of her four years. Ms. Trueworthy received a law degree from the Rutgers University School of Law – Newark. During law school, she served as a managing editor of the Rutgers Law Review, which selected her note for publication. Following law school, Ms. Trueworthy served as a law clerk for the Honorable Andrew M. Mead of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.
