Maine congressional redistricting panel chaired by RW attorney Mike Friedman meets Monday
From the Bangor Daily News:
AUGUSTA, Maine — The two-party commission that’s redrawing Maine’s congressional district lines to balance population is taking a step toward completing its work.
The 15-member commission meets Monday in the State House, and proposals for redrawing the boundaries of Maine’s two congressional districts may be presented. Rudman Winchell attorney Michael P. Friedman is the chair of the committee.
The panel has six weeks to finish its work because Gov. Paul LePage has called a special legislative session for lawmakers to vote on a redistricting plan. The session will be held Sept. 27.
Federal courts have ruled that Maine’s congressional districts are unconstitutional based on 2010 census data and must be redrawn before the 2012 congressional elections.
