Mainebiz News is reporting that two Rudman Winchell clients, Pittsfield-based Cianbro Corp. and Stillwater-based Sargent Corp, have been selected to build the new Oxford Casino.

Black Bear Realty, the developer behind the Oxford County casino, has tapped the two Maine companies to lead construction of the $164 million project.

Cianbro Corp. and Sargent Corp. will be the primary companies in charge of building the four-season casino resort, according to a press release from Black Bear. Sargent will be the site contractor and Cianbro will manage construction.

“These exceptional Maine companies have a proven history of providing quality jobs as well as outstanding performance records in their respective fields,” the company said in the release. A formal groundbreaking for the project will likely happen in the near future.

The casino is slated to open in 2012.

Last November, voters approved the state’s first casino, which will be built on a 100-acre parcel of former farmland on Route 26 in Oxford. Last month, the Androscoggin River Alliance appealed permits awarded by the Department of Environmental Protection, arguing review of the application was rushed. Black Bear said it would not stop work at the site as a result of the appeal.
